What to do when one finds themself with a couple of free afternoons in the city of angels.
Before jumping in it is important to note that I have never really felt to urge to visit Los Angles. Don't get me wrong I am all for the gorgeous California sunshine, but this east coaster has always preferred walking from A to B over driving on bumper to bumper streets and freeways. That aside here are the dreamy Los Angeles spots that put a smile on my dial.
Strolling along the sun-kissed Santa Monica Beach after our long haul from Sydney was the perfect jet lag cure. A nautical lovers dream filled with cute blue surf lifesaving boxes, a colourful pier (complete with an amusement park) and a seriously sublime coastline, which is truly magical at golden hour. Topped off with some of the best guacamole and tortilla chips I have ever tasted. Fellow lovers of Mexican food add Blue Plate Taco to your Los Angeles foodie list.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art
With a few spare hours before having to return our hire car post Coachella we stopped into the LACMA to recharge our batteries. Whilst the museum cafe was slightly unremarkable considering the price strolling through a sea of yellow and admiring the works of some of my favourite artists (Lichtenstein and Warhol pieces always take me to my happy place) was just what I needed before my red-eye flight over to the big apple. A museum visit is a non-negotiable in my books whenever visiting a new city.
