There are so many wonderful day trip options from Paris that will transport you to another time and Parc de Sceaux is no exception. Situated a mere 6 miles from Paris (just under 10km for fellow users of the metric system) this delightful château (Musée de l’Île-de-France) and park is a short RER trip away from the city of light. Complete with manicured gardens, which boast a level of symmetry that even Wes Anderson could aspire to, a stunning château and a cherry blossom oasis known as The Pink Orchard.
Domaine de Sceaux, 8 Avenue Claude Perrault, 92330 Sceaux
RER Stations: Parc de Sceaux or Sceaux
The Pink Orchard:
Within Parc de Sceaux there are two beautiful cherry blossom orchards, one white and one pink. The pink orchard is a whimsical square, filled with a multitude of fluffy Kwanzan cherry blossom trees. Celebrating Hanami with a picnic under a sea of sakura was a surreal experience to say the least. Made even more special given the transient beauty of the magnificent cherry blossoms.
When to visit:
Visit within the first two weeks of April to experience the gorgeous Kwanzan cherry blossoms at peak bloom. The timing of peak bloom can vary from year to year so if you are in Paris around this time use the dreamy cherry blossoms at Square Jean-XXIII as a guide.
